Google Launches New Products

The Google event is finally over and one thing that came to mind while watching the live event is that Google is here for business.
They announced a couple of products/features which include:

NEW GOOGLE HOME DEVICES/FEATURES

They have added a couple of features to Google home — there is the voice match, a feature that would allow you the assistant to recognize your voice and customize answers to your account,  Hands-free calling, Broadcast to help you broadcast messages to all the home devices in the house and routines — to help you set up multiple things at the same time with a keyword.
Google also introduced a cheaper version of home — the home mini to compete with Amazon’s Echo Dot — it has a fabric build with 4 LED lights.

Then there is Home Max that comes with smart sound and is 20 times more powerful than google home for volume.

Yeah, all of these products are not officially coming to Africa (Nigeria).

PIXELBOOK

The second announcement is the new Google Pixel book which would reimagine the laptop experience with Google’s Chrome OS, it is also the first laptop with the Google assistant built in.

The pixel book doesn’t just look great, it also feels great, according to Google, that is. It’s a 12.3-inch touchscreen device with a 235 ppi, and a Quad HD LCD. It comes with backlit soft keys. Other specs include Core i5 and i7 processors, up to 16GB ram, two USB-C ports, up to 512GB storage and 10 hours of battery. Then there is the Google stylus — Google’s first ever stylus— which looks kinda big, but claims to have 10ms of latency.

Here is the best part, well not really the best part if you are not into this kind of thing — you can use Snapchat on your Pixelbook. Not a feature that would make you buy the Pixelbook immediately, but still a feature. As for the price — this starts at $999 and the stylus is $99.
Yes, no African country is listed, once again.

GOOGLE PIXEL 2

Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL devices which come in at 5-inches and 6-inches respectively. And as seen from the leaks, the new Pixel device comes with an all-aluminum body with “premium hybrid coating.” It comes with front-facing stereo speakers, unfortunately, and as predicted, this doesn’t come with a headphone jack. The smaller Pixel 2 is a “full HD OLED” display with 100,000:1 contrast ratio and both devices are IP68 water resistant

As for the features, the Pixel 2 comes with always on display (just like one debuted on the Galaxy S7) but Google has added a feature that allows you to detect any song without unlocking your phone — they are coming for Shazam, I guess. There is HTC’s U11 squeeze feature too that would allow you to squeeze the phone to launch Assistant — I hope we can remap this. Then there is the Lens feature, which was initially debuted at I/O. It can recognize phone numbers, addresses, art, etc. Still on the features, Google announced more features coming to Augmented Reality and ARCore. There is the AR sticker, exclusive to the Pixel 2, which puts little characters into your scene so that you can be the director of your stories.

As for the cameras, the Pixel 2 gets a 98% score on DXOMark, it is a single lens (Yes, no dual lens) camera that comes with OIS and digital stabilization. It also comes with portrait mode for the front-facing camera, this uses dual-sensor image technology.

GOOGLE DAYDREAM.

THE GOOGLE PIXEL BUDS

This is a smart wireless headphone that looks big, but allows you to tap on the buds to perform actions like “increase the volume with just a swipe,” to name a few.

One cool feature is the ability to translate languages in real time — a feature that actually swayed me.

THE GOOGLE CLIPS

Finally! WHEW! Google introduced a new tiny camera that works with the Pixel 2 and cost about $249 — which is a lot of money.

The tiny gadget comes with a high-performance lens and an AI engine, at the core of the camera.
